just installed new motor guide W45 wireless. quick, responds very well. i prefer the key fob over the foot control. give the freedom to move around. it's on a 17' (aluminum) '89 Bluefin Spectrum Center console w/ Johnny 1988 88 special.

Just found out about this thread, not that I wasn't somewhat curious due to it's title. LOL

This was what I was asking about in another post. My 18' Glassmaster needs something remotely controllable due to it's size and deck layout. But mainly I just want to be able to fish from "anywhere in the boat".

TD, may I ask what are the dimensions of the mounting base? Also, is yours the smallest version? I see basspro has them in a wide range of prices.

the mounting base is about 8" x 16", this is the smallest of the offering. i got mine from Cabella's, free shipping made the difference. if you would like to see pictures, email me at 'tashasdaddy@comcast.net.'. like i said i've always hated foot controls and cables. the key fob is great. we usually fish with a lot of poles, fishing for the big Crappie (speckle perch in the south) i have 12 removeable, adjustable holders on the boat. found them at www.lakelandproducts.com

Do you run a separate battery for the trolling motor? I have been thinking of doing so on my boat when my trolling motor finally arrives. Should be here this week.

yes, i am presently using a group 24 starting battery. that came with the hull, when i bought it. as long as it works this well, i'm not going to change it. i use a group 27 1050 for the starting battery and the rest of the electrionics.

Got my W45 this week. Looks like new. I'll try to get it mounted on the boat this weekend and take a few pics of it. Can't wait to get it on the lake.
