Looks like most boat projects don't get finished....

I just finished browsing all the boat projects on shareaproject.com. I was surprised at how many projects were just blank pages, or one or two photos and no follow up after a year or so. Even a lot of the early posted projects are still unfinished without any update in a long time.

So all of you who have ongoing projects, don't forget to update your project pages with current photos. There are lots of us who enjoy reading about your projects and progress.

And if you're thinking about taking on a project boat, set your budget, do your homework, and be realistic about your abilities and time. 'Cause we like reading about projects that have a happy ending!

I know what ya mean Mark...Maybe shareaproject needs to add a In Progress/Complete flag...then if the In Progress project doesn't get any updates for a year..it gets deleted.

Now for my excuses: I only get a few hours a week to work on my boat and I only take pictures when I have done something "noticable". I am currently sanding the bottom paint off - I took before pics...but I haven't finish the sanding so I didn't want to update until I have the after pics.

I think you just need to start another project for us, Mark.

just slowed process

just slowed process

still going.. just MUCH slower than when first started.. I still estimate only 80 hours of work remaining. Difficulty is finding some good chunks of time

No orginization yet, kinda like the boat.........under construction from every angle but lots of pics..........

I hope you are right. But I would think that anyone who spent the time and money that these restore jobs take would want to show off their finished boats.

Just Mr Will, I hope to start one as soon as I am able. How is whats-his-name doing? (been so long since he posted, I forget his handle!)

Hey Mark,

I'm have one of those slow going projects too. Money and time for the boat are in short supply. I have not given up and fully intend to see my project to completion. Some days the thought of getting itchy with fiberglass for the gain of two hours of work I will be able to put in just isn't worth it. We also have the benifit of numerous bridges, miles of coastline, jetties, friends and family with boats, and smaller boat that somtimes will suffice, so the boat has been at the bottom of the list of things that have to get done.

As soon as I make more progress I will be updating my share a project page and letting the people here know about it.

Hey Mark,

I'll have some pics posted soon on the Larson I have on Shareaproject. I broke down and bought a running Searay so I spent the summer months boating and getting a good tan.

Although I haven't had a chance to update my own site (www.pfs-ware.com/smith) I have been working away on my 18-foot Starcraft American, albeit sporadically. To date I've got the transom IN, keel IN, one stringer IN. Hoping to at least get the floor in before winter (at minimum) and if things go REALLY well, I might even finish it enough to splash it in late Fall....

I sprayed the gelcoat on the hull this saturday. Took me about an hour to finish. Looks really good and no sanding will be required.
Will post some pictures tomorrow.

Want some projects. Check www.classicmako.com

Start off under project boats, then work your way into the forums. There is a plethora of boat porn there.
