Re: Another little thing to worry about...

Hmmmmmm... doesn't seem like anyone here is concerned about North Korea testing a Nuke given that:

They are the 4th largest military power on the planet.

They have 1300 hardened artillery sites with 1 out of 4 chem tipped.

They have a bio-war capability that includes, anthrax, botulism, cholera, hemorrhagic fever, plague, smallpox, typhoid and yellow fever.

They have the Nodong missile with a range of 1300 Km (bet your Ass Japan is worried)

And just a few months ago tested the Taepodong II, which failed, but if perfected could reach the west coast of the USA.

The leader of that country is Kim Jong Il, and a more unstable megalomanic you'd be hard press to find.

They spend 25% of their GNP on the military, even if that means Millions die of starvation.

And you guys are debating the definition of a homophobic?... what am I saying?... of course being PC is more important :/ now where is my shovel and gas mask....

So why doesn't Dumbya do something about it?
I know !
Cuz he has already skrewed the pooch in Iraq.....
The real reason is that North Korea is not a threat, & he just wants some money.......
China will squish him like a bug if'n he jeopardizes their supply of greenbacks.........JK

Yep, as soon as I heard about Korea, China came right to mind. China would own them within days...hell maybe hours.

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it... It is W's fault.

Probably right about that, but if the money doesn't come

or conditions get worse for the people and he feels threatened

Jong Il is a classic nut case, and if feels he is going down, he'd feel no remorse taking the rest of the world with him... fact, he'd rather. If he felt he could gain advantage with nuclear blackmail... look for it in a city near you...Seattle is it?

Re: Another little thing to worry about...

(CNN) -- Amid speculation that North Korea (DPRK) may conduct a nuclear test soon, the communist country's official news agency on Saturday reported that the United States is conducting a "reorganization" of its forces in South Korea in preparation for a "war of aggression" against Pyongyang.

A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland made the declaration in a statement, the Korean Central News Agency reported.

"The 'reduction' and 'reorganization' of troops in South Korea being carried out by the United States are prompted by its sinister design to accelerate arms buildup and war preparations in the Korean Peninsula by reorganizing the forces into a task force and use South Korea as a shock force in carrying out a new war," KCNA reported. "Due to such moves, the situation is getting tenser and the danger of a nuclear war is further increasing on the Korean Peninsula as the days go by."

What a shame that North Korea is a problem in 2006. Too bad Truman didn't listen to MacArthur. But, we didn't want to offend the Red Chinese. Don't worry, North Korea won't be allowed to mess up the Olympic Games in China:love:

So far 3 of the 5 permanent members ( US, China, and Russia) have publicly stated they would not stand for N. Korea testing a Nuke... haven't heard from England yet but I'd guess she will go along.... who can tell about France.

That should make N Korea sit up and take notice, but who can tell with that nut in power.

If China says "Jump" Kim Dung Il will ask "how high?" The trick is in getting China to say "jump"

That's all the UN does, talk, no action. Wasn't Iran supposed to stop enriching uramium on Aug 31st cause the UN said so? Have they stopped? No they haven't.

So what if the UN say's to North Korea "You can't test that nuke". If they do test it, the UN will have more talks and meetings..it will die out of the media in a month and nothing will get done, once again.

China it the only one who can stop them. Will they, who knows.

Re: Another little thing to worry about...

True as far as that goes, but what if the "big 5" say.."test and we invade"

They probably won't and the UN will do what it always does.... talk.

Meanwhile if N. Korea does test, Japan and S. Korea will most likely go nuclear and we will have a new arms race. :%

Doesn't matter if 5 say it or the whole body of the UN does, it's a useless orginization when it comes to things like this. They are good at handing out food and taking kickbacks though.

Have to agree with you there, except one fine point.

If the "big 5" past a resolution saying "test and we invade (whatever the language used)" the rest of The United Nations would be obliged to contribute resources... it would in effect be a "world sponsored law"

How it would work out is anyone’s guess.

Scary situation.

17 resolutions wouldn't matter. Nothing would get done.
