Hello again,

I was wondering if it is all right to use Marvel Mystery oil on a 2 stroke outboard? In my case a 1989 Evinrude V-4 SPL 88 horsepower model# E88MSLCER. Is Marvel Mystery oil all right to add to the gas tank and is it also a good decarb product and also good to use for winterization? Would you guys run it in your outboards?

I wouldn't use it. Use whats recommended for outboard motors. TWC3 rated oil for the gas mixture, OMC Engine Tuner or Seafoam for decarb, and OMC Fogging oil for winterization.

You do want TCW3 oil mixed with the gas.The Marvel Oil might thin it out,so no.For winterization,BPR Fogging oil is a lot thicker,so no.

As to a decarb/engine tuner type usage ..... interesting idea.Give it a shot.If performance doesn't get better,go traditional.

I would not use it instead of TCW3 but would not hesitate to use it as an additive if I had a reason to. It is great stuff.

I used to use MMO for general engine hygiene including the addition of a quart per 50 gallons of diesel for farm machinery.

Since the fine folks on here put me onto Sea Foam, which I am told was developed in MN for OMC many years ago, I am phasing out the MMO in favor of the SF.

It has proven it'self hands down to be a better product for performance enhancements of all my engines, 2-4 cycle, gas-diesel.

It goes in with the gas and then the combo gets 50:1 on later model 2 cy OB's.

MMO did not decarb any of my engines, but SF did on the first application and in the case of my chain saws, a goodly amount in the sparkplug hole, a few pulls, then flipped them over and a goodly amound down the carbs.....let em sit for awhile and fired em right up......smoke cleared in a few minutes and they run like new. On the OB I just add it to the gas every time I gas up.....have oil injection so I don't worry about that. It's even started cleaning the carbon off the inside of my thru hub exhausted propeller. Great stuff.

d:) d:) d:). Hey Kenny, you laugh, you were one of the guys that told me how stupid I was for not trying it. Well I did and I'm hooked (buy it by the case now and get a discount). As you well know when something works you want others to share the benefits.

But poster boy isn't a bad idea; maybe I can get a pic with my Ballistic Prop next to me...... 8) (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Hey KY, now that you are here, what is that contraption on the lower unit of your engine? Asked Dhadley this am and he didn't know so I'll ask you.

Thanks,

Mark

Thats one of those fins , whale tails LOL.

It was on before I rebuilt it, and I tried it afterwards, wasn't needed.

Amazing the difference , when all 4 holes are popping correctly. LMAO !

Whoever did previous work on it. Used 2 original pistons , 1 wiseco, and one aftermarket.

Wonder why it ran so well ! ! LOL.

I got rid of the fin / whale tail gained a few rpms' as well.

Had to raise the moter a hole , thanks to dhadleys recommendation.

My dad introduced me to it and he is a life long diesel mechanic. He swears by it. I wouldn't use it instead of 2 cycle oil and I'm not sure about decarb or winterizing. We use it in all our impact/air tools. I've used it in my car crank case and with the gas. Heck I use it almost ever time I go into my garage. I've been tempted to try a sip myself. The one thing I can say for sure is that it loosens up everthing I use it on nicely.
