I will be parting out a tractor on ebay and was looking for input on the best auction length and auction end date/time.

It used to be 10 day/Sunday night end was the norm.

Any input or other tips appreciated.

Description, Description, Description! Make sure they know what it is, aproximatly how many hours the part has on it and include more than one picture. Clean the part and even paint it if you can take the time.

Well, I have well over 2200 positive feedbacks and only one negative!!

Pictures- good clear ones
Presentation
Prompt follow-up answer all e-mails
Timing - ending on a Sunday or Monday is good but, IMO it really does not make too much differance on the day, the time ending is critical!!

You are in Indiana consider your bidders on both coasts and a good time to start/end is in the evening (EST) between 9-10 PM which allows the west coast to bid.

I sell to USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia and most of Europe. I shy away from any Asian country (I have shipped to Japan).

Do not be greedy with your shipping costs. Use the shipping calculator (weigh your part and add 1 or 2 lbs for safety) and try to use USPS or UPS.

Start your auction at a fair price and do not use a reserve. Be willing to let the part go for that price.

Make shipping insurance the buyers option

Insist on PAYPAL, or US Postal money orders only!!! I have been burned by fraud money orders. You will be amazed by the number of "fly by night" money order companies there are.

Have fun!

Rule #1 - everybody on ebay is an idiot. Make your descriptions clear with no room for guessing, and keep them short so they will read the entire thing. Spell out your payment and shipping details very clearly. Pretend like you are selling to a 5 year old. Don't give them anything they might be able to argue about, because they will.

Also, make sure you add a buy it now price higher than what you think your auction might end for. I always list a buy it now price that I think is ridiculous, and somebody buys it now about 70% of the time...

Doesn't bother me, there's a billion more to take your place.

Maybe you should look up the definition of the word "hyperbole". ;)
