Can anyone tell me how to disable the power trim and then manually trailer lift on an early 80's 150 merc black max?

I have a boat that needs to be moved and hasn't been a a couple of years. The trim motor went out ( just replaced it) now it is seized up and the new trim motor won't move it so I will need to do it manually, I just don't have a clue as to how.

TIA

I would suspect that the release screw is on the lower starboard (right) side of the bracket. There will be a hole here that exposes the screw head, loosen it and raise the engine, then use a 2X4 or something to block the engine up.

Nope no screw. There are two, 2 bolt caps on both sides that when opened reveal a threaded insert of some kind.

On the upper port side.

I can't see anything resembling hole you mention.

If there is a control knob, turn it full clockwise.

Success!

on the front of the resivior there is a manual release control valve. It had long been broken off and would not turn after I cut a small screwdriver sized hole into the plastic. I ended up chiseling it out and low and behold out came the brown water (shouldn't this be oil?) and the engine released.

thanks for all of the help!
