I was wondering if it would be better to use this stuff at home when the motor is in a drum or when the boat is on the water? Thanks.

Re: Seafoam

I've had better success runing it thru the motor on the lake. The idea is to run the motor at WOT after allowing the Seafoam to soak the carbon deposits. Running in a tank at WOT is dangerous and not advised, besides, the water loss from your tank is a pain. Don't run your motor at high rpm's while in neutral in a tank or at the lake.

Re: Seafoam

There are a lot of "how to do it's" on here, and a lot of different kinds/types/problems/conditions, etc. of engines out there.

If it's easy (like with my chain saw....or your small outboard), I pull the plug and give her a good dose ; pull her thru a few times; flip her over and do the carb air inlet the same way then put the plug in and let her soak for awhile. Then add some to the fuel (per directions on the can) and fire her off. After the smoke clears out, she's good to go.

If that's too much trouble, I just add it to the fuel; amount and frequency depends on my mood/moods. Within a short period it is obvious it is doing it's thing.

Trying out for "Poster Boy" as soon as I can find a contest to enter. 8).......per Kenny's suggestion.

Re: Seafoam

As far as I know, Seafoam Deep Creep is just Seafoam in aerosol form. I think the directions say all you need after you load up the engine and let it sit, is a high idle of about 1500 rpm. You can do that on muffs. I've been doing it that way for years... except for the few years I got lazy, and that and a broken exhaust cover gasket caused a ring to coke up, rock and destroy a cylinder. One rebuild later and I have the 'de-carb' religion again.

Re: Seafoam

Thanks. It does appear to be the same composition, with the exception of the Carbon Dioxide (propellent). Who knew it was out of Hopkins, MN? I didn't!

Is this the stuff you spray through your schrader valve?

Yes to the schraeder valve. It is a great decarbon tool.

Re: Seafoam

Isopropyl alcohol.

I think it came from MN because of it's origin.

Supposedly someone at OMC was having carbon problems, probably due to the winters up there, and asked a chemist or someone to get something to dissolve it (naptha) and keep the water outta da fuel (alcohol). Since it was for OB's, then 99% 2 cycle, it needed a little oil in it.

Naptha is a low refined hydroarbon used as a solvent and in the early stages of gasoline.

Real simple, but which naptha; only a hundred different types. :%

India Pale Ale?

But back on topic. Does it work as well as Stabil as a fuel stabilizer? I'll probably get a good (deserved) lashing for this, but I always mean to use some fuel stabilizer for my boat, motorcycle, and lawnmower when I put them up for the short winter. I never do though. I go out and start up the bike once every other week or so. I haven't ran into any problems in the last 5 years or so. I was thinking about just using the Seafoam as a stabilizer this year since I have a new can of it.
