Hi All, I just got given to me an '86 8hp Evinrude model CE8RCDE (thus I believe it's an '86) that has a busted rod and a chipped piston. I have not torn it apart yet (it came with the head off and the piston in a 'lil jar) but was wondering, will I probably have a bent crankshaft? If so how would I tell once I get it apart? Is there any best case scenerio where I will only need a new rod? Or will I need a piston for sure also as there's a small piece missing from the skirt. I will try to attach a photo, thx, Steve

Re: 86 Erinrude 8hp busted rod

u need to check crank run-out to find out if it is bad
replace pistomn and rod
if u have no scratches in cylinder wall
then just a hone cylinder will work

pic not work
