Hi,
I emptied out the tank that came with my new boat into an old 5 gallon can. What can I clean the plastic tank with to get rid of sediment, sludge, etc? Also the gas cap w/built in gauge and float is pretty rusty ... can that be cleaned and used again? I couldn't find a replacement anywhere on the 'net.

Thanks,
Mark

To clean the tank, pour in a can of carb cleaner or SeaFoam and then drop in a short piece of chain or some large hex nuts tied together. Shake the tank vigorously so the chain loosens the crud and gets it mixed with the cleaning agent. Dump that out flush it again if necessary and you should be good to go. Just be careful that you don't break the fuel pickup tube. Removing the pickup assembly would be wise. For the gauge/cap assembly, get the name off the tank and go to their web site.

Silvertip, thanks! The tank is OEM from SunTracker, it is fit to the platform on the back of the pontoon boat. We don't have a local Tracker dealer, but I was hoping that this type of thing was standard ... LOL
