Anyone ever tasted abalone?

If you like seafood .... and put sushi, lobster, prawns and calamari togeter ... abalone taste 5 times better than all those put together ..... just a pitty we are not aloud to take them out anymore because of all the poachers .........

Used to be popular here. Highly regulated now, but once and a while even on a restaurant menu. Never had it though, I'll take your advice if I ever get a chance.

Abalone is unique and delicious. It's real and I mean REAL expensive now. A deli in Chicago's China Town ahs it canned. A can the size of a Cambels soup can costs around 50 bucks. I haven't had it in years. I'll have to treat myself soon.8)

My BIL was real big on free diving and popping abalone off the Pacific coast.My sister brought some down to Texas one summer about 15 years ago.She sliced it into strips and used a tenderizing mallet and sauteed it somehow.Can't remember her recipe details,but it was delicious.

It is totally illegal to take any out here now .... but the poachers I have designed inflatables for, give me nice big ones from time to time, not that I support what they do but, a nice big AB minced served with rice is just the best ever ...... but I am sure if you guys have to clean that thing yourself you wouldn't want eat it ...... it's all green big slug, looks horrible, the shell makes a pretty neat ashtray though .... hehehe
