Re: Computer Monitors & Headaches

One or two days a week I have the pleasure of staring at a laptop monitor for several hours. I'm sure many of you have it worse! After a long day like this in the office my eyes and head don't feel so good. I had my eyes lasered a couple of years ago so I don't have vision problems. I have been thinking of switching to a larger LCD monitor. Anyone have any experience with this helping?
CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome) has surpassed carpel tunnel for work related disabilities.
If you are wearing bifocal, single vision, or even conventional progressive lenses CVS can compromise your visual comfort.
Task specific progressive lenses maximize the functional intermediate distance for computer use and therefore afford the eyes greater relief than other alternatives.
Some places (mostly optical chains) will try to pass conventional progressive lenses with wider corridors off as task lenses in order to reduce the stock they carry but this does not address the problem. Although many major lens manufacturers now have their propriatary task lens design, some of the task lens designs I have had good success with are Office by Shamir, Business by Zeiss, and RD (Room Distance) by Zeiss.
A good anti reflective process such as Teflon or Crizal Alize will also reduce glare while also increasing visible light transmission.
