Has anyone had any experience using a Perko flushing kit on a VP 4.3GL 1997? I recently installed one and found that the engine rapidly increased in temperature resulting in me having to change the pipe at sea. I did not cut the original pipe in case I had problems, luckily I didn't, but used a new hose instead. Water seems to be flowing through fine, but obviously not enough. Please help!!
Does anyone have a DIY idea for flushing engines?
Do I need to flush the system after each use, it is moored at the marina and is raw water only.

One of these ?

If so even a minor air leak or other problem on the engine mounted raw water pump may have trouble opening the spring on the check valve

I've been using those Perko flush units for a few years now and have never encountered a problem. I even installed them on my generator and A/C cooling system. Gotta say I like em.

Be sure it's installe correctly and like tommys said no leaks. Also check your raw water pump.
