I'm new and am glad you are here. I would like to convert from the original 2bbl carburetor to 4bbl. I am looking for, a USED intake manifold P/N: 98348A4. I would also like a USED 4bbl carburetor and USED flame arrester. I do not have the P/Ns for the carb and flame arrester. The boat is a 1987 17' 6" Larson Citation. Bought it new. The engine is a 165 hp closed cooling, 224cid, 3.7 ltr, Engine S/N: B445429. Would you be able to help me please.
PS. I am most interested in the used intake manifold.

Thanks

Ron

Welcome to iboats :)
I dont know if they make a 4 barrel manifold for a 470....
I'm sure someone who is more familiar with that model will be along with some helpful info, though.....JK

Is it worth the expense for 20 extra horse power?Never really noticed the difference in the boats I`ve tested.
I might have a complete take-off,I`ll check when back from vegas.11/14

i have a ? about the mercruiser 4cyl 165hp.......470series?? I just bought a thompson earlier this year with that motor and alpha 1 drive, I remember reading a post a while back about the 470 series...... I was just curious as to what all the bad things it offers... that I keep seeing..... curious to see what is said and what I should do.....kinda twisting the stomach thinking about it now :(

For one, the voltage regulator is/was a problem, but they do have an upgrade to fix it.....JK

coolant leaks through camshaft seals or something.....I've never seen one of these alumifords, but I've seen that sad story a number of times on these forums.. watch your oil for milky coolant entry

Thanks Chief. @ over $1000 new for these parts, it's not worth putting that kind of money in a 20 yr old boat. But I'll bet when you get back from Vegas you'll make me an offer I can't refuse on used parts.
Thanks again Chief
Ron
