I just bought a new boat, it has a 75 johnson seahorse

MODEL: J75TRLCIM
SERIAL: J5485727

It is on an '81 Seaswirl openbow
an looking for info on engine because I cannot seem to locate this model anywhere on the net to get a manual.
also I was interested in what ratio gas mix to use on this engine? 24:1 or 50:1 or what?

Re: johnson motor help

was also looking to sea what step I could take to get a little more oomph. would a 75hp o/b just be kinda slow on a 16' fiberglass openbow? would a different prop add some speed? or a stabilizer fin? I dont know how fast it goes because of no gauge but it seems a bit slow. this is my first boat though and maybe I am just expecting too much?

good question. i asume the original.
i dont have specifics and not near boat.
in general is there a better design or size that would bring out all of the engines potential?

Re: johnson motor help

basically all you have told us, is you have a 75 hp, on a 81 sea swirl. what length,, what are the numbers on the prop. is it possible the hull is water logged. you can take the manual number and look on ebay. does it sound like the motor is running correctly? we can guess for the next year, there are 14 different 1981 sea swirl models.
