need help to identify johnson/evinrude

i bought a old motor that has had a replaced mounting bracket, the bracket has these numbers 7524-51493 but it is a replacement bracket off another bottom end that i have gotton with the motor..someone told me there is a number on the plug but i can not find...i,m looking to find a newer hood cover...when i bought it i was told it was a 9.9hp but i'm not sure ,no stickers on it..
can someone please help.null

7524 is a 1958 Fleetwin 7.5hp. The brackets would fit a number of motors in the 5.5-7.5 range, but not a 9.9

Well, on second thought they would fit a 10hp

look at image # 45453 see the silver disc in the lower left. looks like a quarter. it should have your model and serial number stamped on it. what are they.

That is a 5.5hp, early 1960's.
