The Thunderbolt IV ignition didn't do much more than electronically control the advance and the spark and that was about it.
The Thunderbolt V had a lot of upgrades. IF you go to the link below and turn to page 4B-15 it will explain the differences better than I can.

Using a Mercruiser scan tool http://216.230.203.183/marine/mtspec.htm you can get the engine run hours also. But that's about all you can get from them. No diagnostic info.
