Hello All,

I am trying ot remove my Alpha one sterndrive. I have removed all 6 of the nuts. I try to pull it off, and it is stuck. Any ideas? The Seloc guide says to get a hammer and punch and try to remove the u joint nut. Is there any other way?

This is on that Totally Saltwater Sunken 470 Merc Ain't it,..??..??.....

You Did disconnect the Trim Rams,..??.... Right,..??....

If it'll swing Up,+ Down, Freely,........
Pick it Up,+ Insert a 2X4 Under the drive, up Underneath it at it's hinge point,.....
Now,..... SLAM it Down on the block of Wood,.....
It probably is going to take Several Blows to free that Rusted up Junk...........

Good Luck,..........

OMG, didn't even think about that :%

I hate to tell you this dneishel, but you are about to find out that even a FREE boat is WAY over priced and way to expensive to fix if you are on any kind of a budget. Now, if you have unlimited resourses and just want to make this boat work again, gut it, throw everything away (including all the wiring) and start over.
But you may find any flotation foam or wood in the boat is also water logged.
Don't dig your hole too deep you can't get out. Looks don't mean much in a boat.

Re: Stern drive removal

Thanks for the help folks,

It is most appreciated. I am not planning on sinking any money into it until I find out all that is needed, and how much it will cost. My first order of business, however, is to remove the stern drive, and see if it is operational. Then move to the engine to see if there is anything that can be salvaged (from the looks of it I may be able to get some money from scraping it). Then rip up the floor boards and such. Will go from there.

Don, I appreciate the link. The link however is a 7 page outline to the manual. Do you have the rest of the manual saved?

Again, Thank you everyone very much!

It's all there, you just have to know how to work it.
Go to the outline and move your cursor over the different sections. Notice notice the cursor change. That's a link to that section, click on that section and give it time to open. Some of those files are quite large.

You save it one section at a time, you can't save the complete manual at one time. You have to open the file first, then save it using "Save a Copy" icon or from the file menu.
You also need Adobe Acrobat reader 6.0 or newer. The older versions didn't have the save feature.

Re: Stern drive removal

Howdy all,

I am probably not going to sink much money in this. You guys (and maybe some girls out there) are right. how should I go about this? Should I do some work just to get it ready for sale? Should I try to donate it? Should I take it to the dump and save the trailer? any good ideas?

Like I said before the Engine needs replacing. The outdrive may be ok???? The flooring needs to be replaced, and the hull has minor damage. Just a reminder.

Any ideas? (and setting it on fire and running away is nota good idea =-})

Thanks for the help.

Re: Stern drive removal

send to salvage yard, donating it would be a rotten trick, the org that got it would have to dump lots of cash to make it sellable, maybe part it out on ebay, theres gotta be a few good parts left
