So the rents forgot to pack the turkey when they came out to get on our boat last week. (mom remembered to pack makeup, DVD's and her laptop, for a 2 week sailing adventure. but not the turkey :) So... currently we have the choice of Salt/herb crusted grouper (grouper baked while packed in flavored rock salt) or

Maui Style mahi mahi
• 2 Tbsp butter, divided
• 1 clove garlic
• 1 Tbsp teriyaki sauce
• 2 Tbsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp. honey
• 1 Tbsp sesame seeds

What do you think?

On a side note.. anyone going to be in the bahamas over the holidays?

Re: Thanksgiving Bahamas style

I'm going with Grouper as the teriyaki is not 'murican or Puritanical or Pilgrim-like.

We once had Thanksgiving in Cancun. Stayed at the Hilton and the Turkey stuffing had chili peppers in it :% I guess that's what we and you deserve(d) . . . 8)

BTW, is it stuffing or dressing? Never could figure out which one was proper like. Oh, and I am going boating on Thanksgiving too, 2nd year of a new family tradition!! Off to the in-laws at Havasu, only way you could get me to their house 'cept ex-SIL Julie's gravy is pretty dern good.

Grouper is good food, but:

Mahi mahi is food fit for the gods.

Mahi Mahi for sure! Yummmm!

Although, a couple weeks ago I had some grouper that was to die for! Encrusted in a combination of plantain, sesame seeds, almonds, and pumpkin seeds, pan fried to a lovely crunch texture, and then topped with a bit of mango buree. It was slammin'!

I'll have the mahi mahi, please.

but I'm anxious to come back another time to try that grouper, sounds interesting.

I salute you for "going the other way" with your Thanksgiving holiday. Have a good 'un!

[note to QC: "stuffing" is "dressing" that's cooked inside the bird, which "they" say you ain't supposed to do because of the risk of Salmon Ella; Salmon Ella is a mythical character featured in stories told by the original pilgrams to the Indians (aboriginal North Americans) to frighten them into

Re: Thanksgiving Bahamas style

jtex,

As long as there is no risk of Salmon Rushdi in my Turkey, I'm OK . . .

Just for clarification, I prefer the Mahi too, the teriyaki is just not right on T-Giving. You wouldn't serve Sushi would ya? Hey, I've got it, raw Turkey on a little tiny mound of stuffing with a little dipping dish with Gravy in it. Use a litlle Cranberry between the two components to replace that green glue the Sushi Chef uses . . . No, better yet, roll it in a sweet potato skin and we'll call it a Mayflower Roll :%
