I am planning on changing my current 1-2-both battery switch to a three switch setup. (batt, house, combine) When I do so I plan on installing them in a locker under the gunnel in the cockpit area behind a lockable hatch. The locker will have to be large enough to contain the three mini battery switches and an automatic combiner. I am thinking a box about 10"x12" will be large enough. Hatch doors this size are readily available, but I am having trouble finding a box in which to mount the stuff. I was thinking of using thin fiberboard or luan glued up and laminated with fiberglass to make the box. Any other ideas that are a little less labor intensive? I thought about starboard, but gees that stuff expensive. Any thoughts?

If you are using a perko battery switch then it is already pretty waterproof.

If you need a lockable box to cover the switch there is no need to go broke. Even a surplus gi ammo box can be painted with epoxy paint and will last as long as the boat. Attch a hasp to it and it is real durable and water proof too.

Whatever you decide it will only be as secure as the lock used and waterproof as long as you seal the cables coming in and out.
