Mythbusters did a bit on motionsicknes, and found Ginger to be as good or better than anything else they tested.

Re: Seasickness

i used to live in california and we went ocean fishin all the time, ahhh Monterey and Big Sur!!! anywho we always took fried chicken with us and ate it if we felt queasy, worked everytime for us. must be something in there that settles your stomache. similar to the effect of chicken soup to a cold i guess, anyway just thought i would throw that out.

Re: Seasickness

Luckily I seem to have a good stomach for motion. A crossing from Liverpool England to the Isle of Man on the mail run ferry in poor conditions will certainly let you know if you have good "sea legs" or not. I dont think there is any one secret to solving this. It is whatever works for you.
I tell everyone that gets seasick to eat plenty of bread before they leave.
They always ask me if that will help them stay well.
I tell them "No, but the seagulls will thank you for it later as you feed them over the side" LOL
