I know, I need a manual, and I should know this.

1st time changing the leg oil. Winterized the motor and want to change the leg oil too.

94 Evinrude 90 hp V4

Correct me if I am wrong:

bottom drain plug is a large phillips head near the bottom of the skeg, by a water intake.

There should be a top drain too??? Where will I find it?

I tried a search and got no where.

Thans guys

Re: Changing Leg Oil

No Sir, the vent screw is a large screw on starboard (right) side of motor, just above the anti-cavitation plate, toward the forward edge of the gearcase.

The drain is down in the area where the skeg fin blends into the "bullet" shape of the gearcase, same starboard side.

Both are straight slot screw heads.

Do NOT remove the phillips screw. It holds the pinion bearing in place.

I don't think you need a manual to find 2 screws the size of a dime.

No between-the-lines message intended from me. I even tried to be polite and called you Sir. Just trying to help....

Make sure that you replace the nylon washers or orings. That is a common reason for leaks.

Sometimes those plugs are difficult to remove. I use on of those impact drives that you hit with a hammer when needed.

If you want to avoid future headaches go by your dealer and get a set of the new style screw plugs. They are hex wrench (allen wrench) type screws.

Those new drain plugs with the allen head are a blessing. Little expensive but sure will save a lot of cussin' down the road.
