Not sure yet, but I may be in the market for a rebuilt power head in the near future. I noticed that iboats.com sells rebuilt power heads and lower units.

Has anyone in this forum purchased a rebuilt power head or lower unit from iboats? If so, how was the quality? Any complications? Did the unit operate smoothly? How long have you been operating your rebuilt part?

They offer a rebuilt 1973 115hp v4 powerhead for ~$1400 (not including core charge/shipping is included) is this a reasonable price? (It's definitely cheaper than a new engine)

Hello teslaman,

Have you tried Ebay. I see there is one that is saling pretty cheap these are brand new according to the add not rebuilt, you only have to add your ignition and fuel system to it to make it work. See item 290056578341 under Ebay website if you are interested. You might even get them to get it to you cheaper if you email them.

Interesting.....How about a stator, I didn't see one included and I don't know if my old one is compatible?

As for the fuel system, what would I need and how much would it cost (approximately)?

thats the thing with them, you use you old stuff. ebays feedback is good. but i would want to talk to both suppliers. iboats is guaranteed, ebays isn't.

Don't know about the powerheads, but everything else I've bought from them has been A-1...They will stand behind their distributors....

I doubt IBoats has a little shack out back where some little old man is going over old motors. Their middle men for reputable re-builders shops. If I'm wrong, please correct me. I would buy with confidence

I'm not sure that I'll have to do something as drastic as buying a powerhead yet, but I'm preparing for the worst.

I'd like to here from folks out there who have purchased either power heads or lower units from iboats. Also, if anyone has installed a rebuilt powerhead, I'd like to know how difficult the installation was and what is needed to break-in the rebuilt powerhead.
