I bought a JustLink CD-RW off eBay and I am expecting delivery soon. All I'm getting is the unit with no driver or software. Getting the driver off the internet is easy enough. What software do you guys use/like for burning CDs? I'm going to want to burn audio CDs as well as software and photos. I also want to be able to edit and filter the audio CDs. I might even connect my stereo to capture some old vinyl cuts.

My DVD player plays DVD, SVCD, JPG, MP3, and Audio CDs. My car stereo probably just plays Audio CDs. What among these will your typical CD-RW burn? ( I am assuming JPG, MP3, and Audio. ) My computer has a 450 P3 processor and 128MB RAM. My internet connection is DSL/Ethernet if that matters. I also have limewire. These CDs will not be for sale, but I do want to burn some PDFs for sale.

Re: CD Burning Software

Everyone has their favorite...

I like Nero. Used it for years.

When I got my laptop, it came with NTI. I found that I like it just as well.

I don't care for Roxio.

Anything you get will be able to burn anything. If you'd like to make some CD's for your car. Tell the program you want to make an audio CD (I know nero does this). Add mp3 files. It'll tell you when it can't hold any more. Then when you write the CD, the software will convert the MP3's to regular CD audio that you can play in any cd player.

Also, remember this because it gets people all the time. If you want to backup mp3 files onto a cd for safe keeping, sharing, etc, choose "data cd", not "audio cd". That way it'll just put the mp3 files on the CD without converting them to CD audio.

A little bit about CD burning...

I am from the old school of CD burning. I don't expect to save files on a CD like I would any other type of drive. I expect to use the software to do it. You are writing a CD and there are many options to do so.

You'll see programs like "drag-to-disc" and others that come bundled with the CDRW software. I tend to avoid these because they require one of more programs to run in the background all the time. They'll typically add one or more items to the notification area (down by the clock) too. I find those rather annoying. Roxio comes with a whole slew of crap that gets added to your startup.

That's my $.02, your mileage may vary
