This is slow going. That's okay. Terrible weather for boating around here until at least April. Go to this link to see what I've done so far. Cut out part of the floor - edge to edge, about 6" forward - and discovered the false bottome was filled with water. The stringers - I'm not sure what to make of them at this point. I drill into them and they feel solid. The wood that comes out on the drill is bright colored, like new wood, but it seems wet. It is slightly flakey. I'm hoping they can be saved with some drying out at some Gitrot.
This boat was built with no bilge, so I'm going to add one. The plywood of the floor is completely rotten. The wood is black, although it feels solid. I'm going to replace that with 6lb polyurethane foam instead of ply.
The top (deck) of this boat is laminated to the bottom. I decided to cut out part of the drywell to get to the transom. I think this is easier. More to come. Thanks for any insights at this point.
