Re: parts

Hours doesn't mean anything on the bellows, and for that matter engine either. Except for oil changes.
If it's the original bellows, or you have no idea how old it is, yes replace it. As far as the cable, if it works free and doesn't bind or have rough spots, it's fine. If the switchs work, why replace them?
Even if both switchs went bad, you could still run the boat and fix it when you want to. (if ever)

Re: parts

On a twelve year old boat,I'd do all three bellows, and the switches if the wires look bad.Only because it is 'easy 'while you have the bell housing off.The cable can be done without all the dissasembly, but has to be removed from the boat (with the bell housing) to do the job.Maybe that is why the dealer wants to replace it.

Re: parts

Problem falls into the lap of the boater, unfortunatly. But adding a $65.00 cable and $93.00 for the switches has to hurt. And the labor doesn't rise much.So that is the way we go.

as for last night .... I went to bed early too.We both missed the good part,I guess.

I watched that whole thing unfold in horror via subscription. The guys questions were answered several times but he was only interested in arguing. I was hoping for a clean kill, but the torture just went on and on and on. The whole thing reminded me of the so called book, "How to win friends and influence enemies" .Glad it is over now!
