Hi, I would like to install a cockpit heater for my '78 Chris Craft hardtop. I have seen a few options and was wondering what others have used and liked.

thanks for the input!!

Re: what kind of heater do you have??

I installed a Cab Heater out of an "R" Model Mack truck in a Hy-Liner for a Bud,.......
It works Great,.......
But,.. You have to remember to Drain it when Winterizing........

I've got 2 more that are going into My next Project Boat......

For the time being,...
I use a "Mr. Heater", portable propane Heater..........
It'll run about 8hrs. on a single 1lb. propane tank,+ keeps the cabin temps at a Reasonable Temp,.....
This is in the boat in My avatar........

thanks guys, that site looks good. Do you know if they draw heat from the engine or do they create their own?

My little Mr. Heat Heatbuddy is Propane Fired, with a pushbutton Striker.....
Mine runs on a single 1lb.er propane tank.... That 1 might be the Twin Tanker.....

Quite right Bond-o there's the little one that runs 1 1lb tank and has one element or the big buddy which has 2 elements and holds 2 tanks.

Both have a built in striker, they can run off any tank if you get the optional hose. I was quite surprised as to how much heat this thing put's out with no fumes, it also has a oxygen sensor, tip over sensor, and seems to be very well constructed

I would have gotten the little one but there was a sale and the price was right so Merry Christmas (wife's idea)
I intend to use it for winter fishing (canvas on the boat) but i have had it running in the boat tent and it keep's the temp at a shirt sleeve level's making it much eaiser to finish a little cosmetic tuneup on one of the boat's ....I am quite pleased.
