President Bush will not attend weekend ceremonies including a Capitol Rotunda service, but he will return to Washington from his Texas ranch on Monday, pay respects to Ford while his remains lie in state at the Capitol, and speak Tuesday at services for Ford at the National Cathedral.

HhMmm…wonder why? Maybe something came up at the ranch?

The answer is simple. He's not running for office. He's running away from it.

Let's do a David Letterman top ten reasons:

Reason number 10:

GWB does not wish to be in the same room as an ex-president that is still smarter than he is.

Ya know something CBC, there's got to be a good punchline somewhere in there.....see if you can work it up some more....

AP reports that President Bush spent three hours today working on a new plan for Iraq before sharing with the press that it would take more time. And you could probably work out some sort of reference to James Brown's services being about the same time.

Toss these ideas around and see what you can do...famous white guy dead, famous black guy dead....one could dance, the other stumbles once and got stuck with the clumsy title...

Give it a shot.....

Oh, by the way, most of the political tests I've taken put me pretty much middle of the road.....and I voted for one of the more conservative Republican senators in office.....

Don’t think that I meet this criteria a troll.

http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/troll.html

troll
1. v.,n. [From the Usenet group alt.folklore.urban] To utter a posting on Usenet designed to attract predictable responses or flames; or, the post itself. Derives from the phrase “trolling for newbies” which in turn comes from mainstream “trolling”, a style of fishing in which one trails bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll. If you don't fall for the joke, you get to be in on it. See also YHBT.
2. n. An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, “Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll.” Compare kook.
3. n. [Berkeley] Computer lab monitor. A popular campus job for CS students. Duties include helping newbies and ensuring that lab policies are followed. Probably so-called because it involves lurking in dark cavelike corners.

Naaa, I think the jokes stand by themselves.

I did, can't find one reference on the web that listed "W" as a mourner at James Brown's " memorial" or any other remembrance of his life... wanna provide a link?

Oh, by the way, most of the political tests I've taken put me pretty much middle of the road.....and I voted for one of the more conservative Republican senators in office.....

Probably a bad choice of words on my part... I meant “Bush bashing idiots”, but used "libs" as a more generic term. :p

Why the hell is it always about Bush! Jeez, maybe it's protocol to not upstage events by attending family services and Congressional honors/tributes? Yes, you can bet your buns Billary, Osama, and Little Johnnie will be there, and at services for Brown, too. What better opportunity for free photo ops. Poor James, upstaged by a mere ex-President as he takes his final bow ... :/

I guess you didn’t catch my opinion on my thread bondo, maybe it was too concealed but it was there, I’ll state it in plain English. I think it was rather tacky that bush couldn’t make "President Fords Funeral" over the weekend. To me it shows a “petulant Brat” that got his feelings hurt, listening/reading what President Ford, said to Woodward, about his invasion of Iraq.
