Hi All,
The problem with above outboard is that the battery was briefly connected incorrectly, ie positive to negative poles to the wrong leads, the ignition was not on at the time. The result is that the whole system is dead, turning the key fails to get any response even from the gauges never mind the engine. There doesnt appear to be any ignition or engine parts fried that you can see. It has been suggested that a control circuit has been damaged but how do you check this? Appreciate any help, thank you.

Have you checked the fuse/breaker on the upper starboard area of the engine? Most have a resettable breaker, some have a fuse.

Hi JB & Justintime,
Thank you both for your replies. I checked the engine last evening and eventually found an small unmarked white fuse connection on the top of the starboard side. The 30amp push-in fuse was blown and next to it was a nice new spare!Result is that everything is working fine!

Thanks again!d:)
