I found a message on my answering machine night before last,+ got a call-back yesterday afternoon,......
1 of my Best Bud's was telling me about his New Boat,+ would I Please stop over at 1 of the shops to visit him,+ the boat when he got out of work last night,........
'Course My reply was Sure.........See ya at 3:30........

Bobby is the kind of guy who is Always Tricking Out everything he owns,.......
And,..... When 2'itis struck him,.... It was in a BIG way,......More like 20'itis..........

This is Bobby's New Toy,.......
He's worked himself Up from a 21'er, starting 10/ 12 years ago or so, to his 30' Checkmate he's been running for the last 4 or 5 years.....
'ell,... I'm pretty Impressed with the Checkmate,.. Twin 454s/ Bravo1s that'll pull 80mph All Day Long......

Bobby picked this 1 up from a dissolved Dot.Com Co. that went under a few years ago,... It's been sitting, without Power or Drives,..... Alittle Dirty, but Mostly There......

Of Course,.... This is Why I was called,......

3 TRS's are Gone,+ 3 Bravo IIIs/ 502EFIs are going back In,.......
While this Isn't a Rerig of a Stringer Drive,....
The process Is the same......

No Wonder I Never have Time for My Own Projects,.......
This 1 is going to be Fun,.......
I'll try to keep ya posted.......

I Guess Bobby still hasn't figured out that he's Married now,+ has a New Baby Girl this year...............

Looks like Bobby might have an extra bit of indoor space there. Maybe you can work a deal. I can't think of too many people that have enough indoor space, let alone a surplus of it.

Will Bobby have enough cash to run it after he puts it back together? 3 454's, whew! Scares me to death.

It's a Scarab 50,..... that's 50 Feet...........

That's 1 of the Shops that belongs to the Co. that Bobby works for,.....
Owned by the brother of My Boss........
I Do usually have access to All the shops,..... Ya just gotta work Around all the Company's Business......
And,..... I've got Toooooo Many things going on to tie up the floor space with another boat at the moment.....
Building an Outdoor Wood Boiler,+ getting the River House jacked up are My priorities.....
Right Now anyways.......

Btw,... That's going to be 3,... 502EFIs he's going to be feeding.......
Luckily,.... He's Docked at "Party Central" up on the St. Lawrence River thru-out the Summer,..... That Helps keep the Fuel Bill somewhat in line........

Is that one of those heavily insulated deals where you pipe the hot water into the house for heat? One firing keeps the water hot for xx number of hours?

Ayuh,.... Pretty much,......
Mine is a 500gal. propane tank, with added heat exchangers, mounted Inside an 800gal. propane tank....
Hopefully,... I'll be able to stoke it once a day with 4' wood(firebox is almost 6' deep for this reason).....
And it'll be plumbed Into the existing Oil Boiler in the cellar,....
This Should give me nearly Free Heat,+ Domestic Hot Water........
I've got a few Buds in the Tree Business,+ they keep telling me to Git'r done,.....
They're tried of Paying tipping fees for their waste,+ will Gladly Give me All the wood I can handle.........

With my Torque-shift Prop,......
I can Blow alot of them Right Out of the Water,........
Up to 35/40mph anyways,................

Took the grand kids up the Miami river aways this afternoon. We passed a US Customs deep V somthing-or-other (about 34') with four 250 Mercs hanging on the back. That is 1,000 hp and some very happy fuel providers.

I couldnt think of a better man for the job.....dam lucky for having you as a freind...... i cant even imagine what it would be like to sync 3 motor's like that let alone the cost.

Wiring, cable mounts, throttle control bracketing and on and on.... just the thought give's me a headache.

I belive the 50' is the biggest scarab built. Pretty sweet.
What is he going to pull that thing with.
I'm thinking that hull should do around 60 mph with the right props.
Try talking him into bolting on some whipplesddd$$$

Actually,... Bobby is an Extremely Competent Mechanic in his own right,......
I got him his Job about 12/ 13 years ago,... Just for That Reason......
He called me just so we could bounce his Ideas around,+ come up with the Perfect Plan,....
And, His Plan was a pretty Good 1,... I just gave him a few pointers on his choices of Resins, Fillers,+ Reinforcements.....

Ayuh,.... You're Right,.... Bobby has been in contact with the actual Guy who was the Lead Man on the Scarab 50 Project,.....according to him, there were Less than 100 of these built,+ Only 2 were lain up with Kevlar cloth,.....
After doing a Serial # search,.... He called Bobby back to inform him that Bob's Is in fact 1 of the 2......
With the 3 502EFIs,+ Bravo IIIs,... He's hoping for an Honest 60mph+......
It Had 3 1000hp+ Merc.s running thru TRSs,.... It did Over 90mph then.....

He's got access to a 1 ton GMC to get it to the River,.....
Once it's there,... It'll only have to move less than 100 yards a year.....
That's 1 of the advantages of having a Good Friend living On the banks of the St. Lawrence,.....
Free Dockage,+ Winter Storage..........

Btw,..... Boomyal,... A Whipple Charger is a Belt driven Supercharger......

A link with some interesting info on the Scarab 50' Meteor. Also a small story about Larry Smith, The man that founded and ran Scarab, before it was bought out of coarse.
If that is one of the kevlar/carbon hulls $20,000 is a steal! even without power, heck even if it was a bare hull.

Your friend must have some $ just the cost of the anual oil change and tune-up would bring the average man to tears.

My friend has the same 50 footer with triple 502 carb motors, bravo 1 drives and i had it doing 61 gps this summer with full fuel 6 persons. The boat weighs 16K. It is a beast in the waves.
