Re: We knew it all along

I don't know how to say this any differently.

You are wrong, pure and simple, Pointer.

Have you seen what is happening recently internally in Iran? Ahmi...jad(sp?) is losing influence over there, and Syria has no power.

Like everyone in the region, they like to make noise--they don't like to make war.

You need to study the redeployment plan, and not just dismiss it out of hand like everyone on your side has done. It is about refocusing our efforts on the terrorists, (you know the ones that attacked us, remember?) and not being mired in a civil war. That includes the Taliban in Afghanistan, and wherever they may be hiding. This is an operation for special forces, unmanned armed drones, and air and helicopter gunships.

Not an operation for 140k (or more) boots on the ground

I have to laugh at your your examples. Lets try this, if we owned a business you would have us sell out to Halliburton. Let me help you PW. Freedom works. But only when the masses realize it. But because you don't believe in freedom, here comes the surrender monkey.

Trust in the fact that free men will fight harder. Deny the forces of communism and anarchy. Support those who would demand the right to be heard. Regardless of your position we have created this situation and we have to finish it. Stop demonizing our forces and let them finish the job as it should be finished. Now Rick Durbin likes calling our troops Nazi's, but they are not. If we can't finish this I don't want to hear any of the lefts grandious schemes for anything. That is reality.

The reality is at this point all we are doing is holding Iraqs hand. There is no right time to leave. If we stay, they have little incentive to fight for their freedom, thats what we are for. All the while, people are dying right and left. If we leave, they fight among themselves and tear their country apart, with the potential for de-stabilizing the region. This whole situation in six of one, half dozen of the other. There is no one right answer, despite the "stay the course" mindset. Everyone seems to be so convinced that everything will spiral into some hell on earth if we leave. Hate to tell ya, but we have years of experience in what is not working. Its time to try something else. To keep doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different outcome, well, I don't have to say it now, do I?

So Jason what is your perspective on the Democrats raising taxes? Strictly sticking with your theory of doing the same thing over and over.....

This was in the news this morning but the move hadn't started yet.... here is what is going on right now.

The Iraqi army has reportedly killed 30 militants and arrested several others, including a number of Sudanese nationals, in a gun battle in Baghdad.
State TV said the firefight took place near Haifa Street, a Sunni district which housed top officials during Saddam Hussein's regime.

The engagement in the centre of the city is believed to mark the start of a new security drive in the capital.

Iraq's PM has pledged to take action against all illegal armed groups.

'No refuge'

Prime Minister Nouri Maliki said the new security plan would be implemented by the Iraqi army, supported by US forces.

In a speech to mark Iraqi Army Day, he said: "We will rely on our armed forces to forcefully implement the plan and the multinational forces will support our forces."

He added: "There will be no refuge from this plan for anyone who is operating beyond the law, regardless of their sect or their political affiliation."

Now remember, "W" was on the phone with Maliki for several hours Thursday.... could there be any conection?

Come on CBC, embrase any semblance of failure. When was the last success story you have heard from the MSM? Yep, I can't remember when either.

How long have we been in Japan and Germany? How many years of "hand holding" have we done there?

By using this reasoning we should have "redeployed" all of our troops in the 1940's and not stayed in those regions, but they are still there, why did we stay there? And if anyone tries to answer this, try to use the same logic to the war in Iraq.

While I was nailing up the last board for the day I thought of that same example.

Plainsman, stop it, just stop it now. Introducing rational thinking to politically motivated hatred just won't work..

I don't know Pointer. My taxes never went down, so I don't know what to tell you. I would not be surprised if the dems do raise taxes in an attempt to try to pay off that massive deficit our country has looming over our head. Those theoretical tax cuts, and I say theoretical because my income bracket did not benefit, are exactly like credit cards. Yeah, you can live in luxury for awhile, but guess what, you gotta pay that bill eventually. I just wish there could be a better balance of spending and taxing, rather than the spend-rific reps, and the tax-rific dems. Always has to be extreme with these two parties...

Re: We knew it all along

JasonJ,

You got a rebate check on your 2000 taxes in 2001 of $600 if you were married and had at least $12K in reported income, $300 if you were single and had at least $6K reported income. Not sure how you could have avoided that . . .

http://archives.cnn.com/2001/ALLPOLITICS/06/07/tax.primer/

Also, the tax rate on ALL income levels was reduced. There is no way that you could've avoided saving money unless you over reported your income. The fact that you "paid" is not relevant to how much you paid . . .

Jason: Every Federal tax paying American earning actual taxable income 2001-2006 DID GET A TAX BREAK. CLUE: (The amount of taxes you pay each year has nothing to do with how much you got back after completing your return). Once you get your facts straight, (kinda like trouble shooting that 1250 and figuring out what you know and what you don't know), you can reach a potentially sound conclusion based on logic and not "feelings". Respectfully, JR

Hey Haut, Political courage in modern times is fairly rare. W does some things I don't like either, but on balence: he tends to do what he said he would do, and most of his policies do have some logical consideration. I wish he would spend less $, etc., (actually the creeps in congress that just got the boot did the real bad job there), but I hope his ramp up strategy wakes the Iraq government and poeple up to the fact that America in the 21st century does not have the patience we used to have a mere 60 to 70 years ago.
