Zacly, HM, Rolmops is the one that brought up race. But REGARDLESS --your fine example only buttresses my opinion, does it not? Or do we need to get a conservative version of one of these before it does?

I submit that the ACLU has been hijacked by socialist doctrine.
It's simply a tool to bring down the American judicial system from the witness stand.

Unlike you,the ACLU is color blind and will defend anybodies civil rights.
These are the rights granted to every US citizen.In fact, dislike it though you may,the ACLU is defending your and my rights as granted by the constitution and thus protects the constitution from being chipped away at by contemporary political interests.

Some entity has to act as a watch dog against run away government.....
'Duh'bya & Co. won't do it......
In fact, they actively pursue the abridgement of rights on a daily basis......
I'm sure we will learn more from the ongoing investigation.....JK

Again, I submit that this is a well-concieved disquise for the "get America" organization it has morphed into. Sure, the original intent IS why it was called "ACLU".
But since when are islamofascists considered American or cival? When they board a commercial aircraft? And if so, what of the rights of those sorrounding them? Are their rights somehow second-tier priority?
And why is this putrid abortion of an organization fighting for the rights of terrorist combatants in Club Gitmo?
Is one or the other? It CANNOT be both, even if we were not in the midst of global war against their "defendants"!

I'm really trying to understand this dual-standard, seemingly and seemlessly written-into this new mission for thge ACLU! 'splain it if possible.


Read some of the historic decisions handed down to subverted into American law from the ACLU -- as if wriiten by the hand of their God,
And dare tell me, what is "American" or "cival" about it?

I'd favor extending American civil liberties to some foreigners who are traveling here, like the British, Canadians, maybe even French...the Swedish women's beach volleyball team for sure....

Yep, The ACLU does indeed represent the unpopular causes at times. It kind of stands to reason, as popular causes would have plenty of support, by definition.

The constitution does not seem to differentiate between popular causes and unpopular causes when it comes to individual rights.

The constitution is what defines our freedom, the thing we are supposedly fighting for in Iraq and the rest of the world
