Any Yamaha parts gurus around?

I have an 89 90hp, which has a rusted swivel bracket (steering bracket A) this original part may be substituted for another part number with which the 93 model engines swivel bracket also superseeds to. After 93, the 94 model swivel bracket changes and stays the same part number all the way to present.

So only 2 brackets are sold as spare parts for all the yam 90s one till end of 93 and the other 94 to present.

Does anyone know what this change was?? Could it have been simply mild steel to SS or at least a more durable alloy? Does the present part number swivel bracket actually fit all years?

Once this motor is fully refurbished and restored I plan to keep her for as long as I can or I stay alive! whichever come's first!

Playing detective ... Any advice welcomed:)

Thanks even125

As far as I know those brackets are exactly the same since back in the day, the 90hp and 85hp yamahas are still the same .... great engines .....

look in the 94 marine tech guide, the interchange may tell you.
sometimes the engineers fail to tell use techs why the number changed.
also compare both part numbers, something as simple as a paint color change will change the part number.
in the tech guide is a chart on how to interpet the part number code.

Thanks for the replies, it seems it was only the paint, EK code for older engines and A4 I think for the newer ones.
At least that is what I have come up with so far.
