model 985680 serial T0237380 is this a v8 drive the #s in my seloc book do no match up . is this a king cobra drive 460 ford thanks JD

somone gave me the # from the unit they are selling,it must be wrong .i think off a 1993 460 omc ford ?

The following from the BRP.COM Website. Newer OMC Sterndrives have codes that tell a fair amount of information. Below are model numbers for 1993 and 1994 7.4L and 8.2L

985680 is actually the model # of the transom mount for 1989 Cobra's. A complete system is made up of 3 pieces, the engine, transom mount and the outdrive. Each piece has it's own model # and serial #.

On a cobra drive there should be a ID tag on the upper housing,port side about 2 inches above where the lower section is..Should have model and serial.....
