I have a 1989 Force 85 HP. What's the best motor flusher to use for this engine? I've read that they don't all work with this engine because of the way that it is designed,

Re: Flush motor

Thanks.
Sorry, I should have noted that the boat is kept in the water. I have easy access to fresh water (hose) and would be willing to flush it after each use. As I stated:
"I've read that they don't all work with this engine because of the way that it is designed."

What I meant by that quote is that the surface is not quote flat, but has a slight bulge to it.

Re: Flush motor

Thanks but I know "iBoats has everything" maybe the 125 has a different design,

The motor flush rubber does not seal around the intake, the surface is not quote flat, but has a slight bulge to it.

Any other suggestions out there?

Re: Flush motor

Your intakes are on the side of the gearcase right behind the prop aren't they?
I have good luck with the plain black circular muffs mounted on black painted steel rod. I just make sure that the hose hole is directly over the inlet and that it is tight enough not to slip. Sure, some water sprays out around the muffs, but remember, you don't need enough water to cool the engine at 5000 rpm. You only need enough to cool at idle and flush out the salt.
Sometimes it does take a bit of time to prime, but as long as water eventually (reasonable time period) comes out the idle relief vents in the back, you are ok.

I think sombody makes a flusher with square muffs for this application but I haven't needed them yet.
