Have a 1984 e15rlcrm outboard. Hadnt been used for a while and when i started it up, no water was coming out the water pump outlet, located on the rhs rear under the engine...it did run properly for a while and then slowed to a dribble...ran it tonight for about 10 minutes and it was a steady dribble? Any ideas what the problem might be and how to fix.

Welcome to iboats John!

Take a piece of wire and shove it up into the tell tale hole or blow back through it with air. The tell tales can become easily clogged with debris.

If the engine has been setting for a while, might consider a water pump impeller change out.

Let us know how you make out.

The 9.9 and 15 impellers are notorious for seperating from the hub.If yours is trying to pee,I agree it;s likely a plugged up hose or the pee tube.Definatly change the impeller ASAP,impeller failure will happen sooner or later.

As OBJ states, clean out that plastic water outlet telltale fitting first. If after that, water shoots out steady as it should, fine. If the problem persists, install a new water pump assy.

Separate Off Topic question. I changed over from dial up to DSL some time back and all other sites, computer in general, seem to be rather fast. However, here when changing from one page to another (All Topics Page To Post Read Page, inserting a reply etc), there's an average of somewhere between 26 to 41 seconds of delay. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yep....me too Joe. This has been a problem since near day one. But help may be in offing....iboats may be going to another BBBoard program and possibly new hardware to run it. We can only hope....d:)

EDIT: I've have done a lot of 9.9/15 inpellers and have yet to see an impeller separate from the hub. I do use the OEM impellers though. I really could not tell you how good aftermarket impellers are for longevity.

Remove the gearcase retaining bolts, then put the gearshift lever in whatever position allows the lower unit to drop down the most. You'll see a brass shift connector at the front of the unit. Remove just one of the 3/8" hex bolts from that connector.

That will allow the lower unit to be removed. You'll see the water pump sitting on top of the lower unit.

You can get the parts diagrams for your motor at the Bombardier Recreational Products Parts Catalogs website:

http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E

You can download the parts lists to Excel [right mouse key] and also save the diagrams as pictures.
