Do I need to use a trailer bracket when towing my johnson ? my force had a bar you put in it ! Thanks JJB

Some do. Some have light duty full tilt locks which I wouldn't consider a trailering bracket. Others have a heavy duty half-tilt bracket which is for trailering. I wish all outboards had that. Some motors have power trim with a single tilt ram and dual trim rams alongside. Resting on the trim rams when they're fully extended is suitable if it allows sufficient ground clearance.

it's better to use a transom saver rather than the bracket. it takes the leverage of the engine and transfers it from the transom, to the trailer.

Anything to save undue stress on the transom is a winner in my book.
