Re-seal Mercruiser "R" upper driveshaft shaft housing.

Would it be ok to use the old shims over again to avoid having to reshim? I will be changing the yoke and oil seals. All gears and bearings will not be replaced.

Yes you can reuse them. Just changing the seals should effect the shimming.

just make sure you replace the pinion nut and tension washer. also if the input yoke is grooved the best option is to replace it. same with the upper case driven gear seal surface. check it carefully for pitting or grooving.

depending on if the case has been replaced or modified there are 2 ways to tighten the pinion nut on the input shaft. make sure you use the correct procedure or it will fail.
its a simple procedure that really doesnt require a box of tools but it does require a few.
