My new boat setup idea ... what do you guys think .....

My search for a hydrostream failed misrably but I found this boat ... here is a pic, but I have no info on this boat, all that I know it looks really fast, and is about 17 foot by the looks of it, what do you guys think? .... now I have a new crazy idea, there is this 250hp HPDI yamaha, and I had my eye on a HPDI for quite a while now and thinking of buying it and putting it on this boat, ..... seeing that I was very dissapointed with my last fast boat idea ... this looks like I can break the sound barrier with ........ what do you guys think ......

Thats a whole lotta motor by the loks of it. Well if anyone can do it I am sure you can. Looks like it could flip quite easily to me though (but I am not an expert in that field)

hehehehe, apparently the built in fuel tank is in the nose so it should keep it down a bit, if I keep it full, seems like I will need to get a new trailer for it too, such a nice boat and motor but such a ugly trailer, maybe I can just add a double axle wheels and get the trailer galvanized .... the colours of the motor goes nicely with the boat ....

Or white to more closely match the hull. That thing is butt ugly though, blechchhhh . . .

I'd do it, but I think you really need some type of tunnel.

DJC, I would be a bit concerned about the weight of the motor. You might like to put the boat in the water and load the transom with the appropriate pounds or kilos to simulate battery and motor, and see it the boat sinks.:$

Next you need to be a bit concerned about the power. The manufacturer should be able to advise on max power, if the plate is missing. I would think that 115HP on that hull would be max. If you double it like planned, the hull may be unstable at speed, and if you hit any wakes or waves, you could flip.

I don't think 250 is enough on that boat.8) Twin 175's might get you somewhere in a more reasonable amount of time.8)

Folks, I have some experience with overpowered baots too, I have a boat similar to that with a Merc 1500. At high speed, you really need to hold it steady, so it doesn't "tail wag" especially in choppy water. When it is smooth, the hull "dances" on the water up to about 50MPH, when you reach "takeoff" speed. Any wave, and you leave the water and fly through the air. I have never flipped it (knock wood), but have scared myself many times.

As flat as that hull looks, the first turn DJC goes into at high speed, it may just slide for a while and then roll over.

That might be prone to chinewalking. I'd run a High Five and lift whatever motor as far up as possible. I think your 200 would be very impressive on it.

hehehehe, thanx for all the replies, I agree, after all that I have attempted, I am scared this would not be thrill seeking enough for me ..... but I'll give it a try and see what happens .... I still have my 375hp johnson offshore racing motor that need a new boat to go on ..... but I am still building up the guts to attempt that, .........

Excellent quality of that photo. Probably the best I've seen.

Might want to use that as your Avatar. Looks like yours is going a tad faster than mine (the one I used in my Avatar). Course I took my pic with my cell phone camera with one hand over my hand and guessing where to point it. I'm sure a good quality digital camera would do wonders.

hows the pad on that baby?make sure there aint no hook in her to.then hang that baby and give us some numbers.i may now were a bullet is for that race motor you could probably hit 110 with the right prop
