Thank you for that mis-interpretation. Did you say thank you to the "suckers" who funded your "success" All good things come to an end.

Go ahead, ask... wife works in a nursing home and I hear all about it... top to their bottoms.

Techy looks to me like he is one step away from total care, Assisted living might not be his bag... maybe a Memory unit?

Anybody want to talk about 401K,s are possibly Roth IRA ,I had friend tell me When in doubt go with the Roth: it's usually the right decision. The Roth IRA provides earnings that are tax-deferred and possibly tax-free. But if you make a taxable withdrawal of earnings from the Roth IRA, you'll report ordinary income (not long-term capital gain), and you may pay a 10% early distribution penalty. But if you want we can stay here and talk smack, no problem.:%

[colour=blue]I need a translation please -

Roth IRA? I'm guessing Rothschild income retirement something.

Sounds like what we would call superannuation, forced savings with massive tax breaks.

Here Dunaruma this might clear it up for you, basically you put taxed money in, years later you can withdrew it tax-free. In my opinion that is the best thing that we have going here, just hope the politicians don’t muck it up.:%

There appears to be some problems with the encoder on this message. Or is that an intentional miscoding? ;)

Re: 401k, IRA's Savings, Retirement, etc

One thing I found that was nice, is that there are no market timing restrictions on the funds in my 401k plan.

So I can aggressivelly manage the funds without fear of penalty for fund to fund transfer of balances as often as I want. Something participants of 401k plans should look into. Market timing restrictions can incur large fees if funds are moved too frequently or within time limits.

Re: 401k, IRA's Savings, Retirement, etc

I am just now finally enrolling in a 401k plan. Like you there are no market timing restrictions and as luck woud have it, my place of employment just increased the amount they will match. Its slight but an increase nonetheless.

The best thing is i have 40+ years before I retire......lots of time to acrue some $.

The day I turned 18 I took out a life insurance policy. That should give me some money down the road to put a down payment on something.......like a bigger house when I get to that point.

ohh heck
JB is a closet liberal.
he is hiding his net worth.
:)
I am not asold as JB but I am working on it.
most my friends and cousins either own a marginal place or rent, most work week to week fishing and crabbing and could notr afford medical insurance unless it was free.
most of it is due to the mafia,o I mean, capitalist market in new yourk.
bushel of number 1 jimmy's at the dock this year,18 dollars, market price in boston/newyork. 115/bsl
I have spent 20 years watching my cousins go bankrupt.
you guys are killing me.
every year the price goes down yet the cost of fuel and gear goes up.
no worries the american waterman cant raise the price due to competition from outconus sorces.
I wish I had understood the capitalist market years ago, I would have already retired.
but I am catching up rapidly :).
best advice and example any parent can give a child is if ya cant pay it off at the end of the month you dont need it.
if ya need to make payments use a bank not a card.
put 20 dollars a month in a medium that will pay at least 5%.
had I done that since age 20 I would own an island some place.
but I am working on it.

Re: 401k, IRA's Savings, Retirement, etc

Closet liberal, huh?

Well yes, some of my positions are pretty liberal, but I really think more of them are conservative or moderate.

For example, I feel for the American waterman and the American small "family" farmer. They both work harder for less than most that I can think of since slavery became history. Heck, even most slaves were taken care of by their owners in old age.

On the other hand there is something very attractive about dealing directly and independently with the environment for a living, and about living "on the land" or on the outer banks. It isn't as though they had no choices about where to live and how to make a living.

The conservative in me does not lean toward rescuing people from the consequences of their own decisions. . My decisions about investing in S&Ls, dot-coms and significantly Enron made me a lot less "comfortable" than I might be. . . against my decision to invest in raw land that has made my net worth a lot more than it might have been. Net worth does not pay the bills; it is income that does that.
