Anyone have a Majestic Fireplace by Vermont Casting?

I'm going to order a new fireplace as part of finishing off the family room. There is a Heatilator brand wood burning fireplace in now that just leaks so much air when not in use I want to replace it while I have all the brickwork torn down.

Majestic Fireplace has a wood burning model that should work for me, and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Majestic Fireplaces.

Thanks!

Majestic Fireplace brand no.
But have installed several other brands.
I would think most new ones would be about the same.

You did not give a lot of details but if it is a closed system that
draws cold air in from the outside you will be amazed.

Be it a free standing, insert or fireplace you would swear before the Almighty that they have built in electric fans!
The air flow is that good.

If it takes the cold air intake from the room then cut it back by about 75%.

With electric fans about 50%

Both myself and fishing partner have the latter with electric fans and they work very well.

Smoke/Draft free also.

I have an 18 y/o freestanding Vermont Castings cast iron Catalytic wood stove. It has been the love of our house. Probably burn about 4 cords a year. We kept it burning around the clock for over a week in the January cold.

Had to replace a couple of inner panels a few years back because they warped due to running it way too hot for many a year. I've kept it a little cooler since. I used to enjoy seeing some of the interior parts glow red.:%

Why it's 3 am and it is burning now. It is 25 deg outside. I just restocked it.

I see you have a setup like ours at the cabin.

Because of the small room we needed to be able to
put a chair next to it and stack wood on the other side.
Plus we could not of set it that close to the wall
And this one gets real hot all around.
So we used metal 2x4s and raised it up to be at eye level
when sitting on the couch and to hide the duct work going
under the cabin to bring in air.
The outside tiles with the fire running full are only just warm to
touch. And you can sit in the chair to read.

Those are some nice fireplaces/stoves. Bet they pump out the heat.

Im going for a firebox style. I don't want a recirculating heat(air) system because when not in use, they leak or transfer cold air to the interior. The one I'm using is just radiant, so there is no vent system to let cold air in. And it has a cast iron flue damper. Because we use it just for "ambiance" rather than a source of heat, I will trade off some heating effeciency for an air tight unit.

Looks like this, but mine will have a stone sourround.

We have two. Pretty good fireplace. But I am not really into studying fireplaces so I don't know differences between them aside from size. Has been in this house since 1985. Wood was first burned in it last Sunday. Previous owner had installed a wood burning fireplace with wood burning chimney. Then installed gas logs. We just took them out and used the gas line for a gas starter.

I just think fire places, free standing or not are just pretty.
Mark I agree with you for your reasons.
Eventually this one will be used the same way.
(The free standing gas one in my house)

Mine is 17 years old and our only source of heat.
Going to have central heat/air installed this summer
But she is going to stay just for looks/comfort value.
And as a backup when we loose power.

When I bought, I purposely chose one without any electrical requirements. The one time we had a neighborhood power outage, it was the arctic storm of the decade. We were glad to have the stove.

We have a Majestic "gas appliance". It looks just like a fireplace and burns about $2.00 worth of gas a day when we use it. But it gives out very little heat unless we remove the glass which the instructions say not to do. Don't know anything about the wood burning models but they must surely better than this.

Love the Vermont Castings fre standing ones.

In a previous home, we had two Heatilator fireplaces. They didn't put out much heat unless the fans were going. The fans were so noisey that we shut them off. We sealed one and added a Shrader wood stove which wasn't very effcient either. In our beach house, we have a Lopi freestanding model and it gives out so much heat that we have to open the doors! Burns a lot of wood, though.
