Anybody race out to buy it? Opinions on it?

Personally, I am happy with XP and don't really know if it is worth upgrading.

Re: Windows Vista

With almost everything that releases like this I wait for at the minimum 6 months before buying. There is always a price to pay for the newest and best......it isnt just the sticker price either.

Re: Windows Vista

I've heard its got tons of security holes that hackers are enjoying.

I'm happy with XP.

Re: Windows Vista

I think it is going to be a bust. It's pretty hard to imagine anything being a significant improvement over XP. Add to that, the old things that will not work with it and it would seem to be a lot of work for the effort and expense.

Re: Windows Vista

I just ordered a new laptop yesterday and it comes with it. Scares the dookie outta me. It's supposed to handle memory much better and they told me it had added security from hackers, maybe not from what you are saying.

I'll give you an update after a week or so and see how different it really is.

The thing that I actually do want to go out and buy is Office 2007. I used it a little bit at work and its pretty nice.

You would spend 6 months doing security updates after you got it.:^

I think it called progress. There must be a lesson here... Spend more so you can save more so you can buy more.... :':)|+o(???:bewildered:

EDIT: upon reflection it has to do with the Keeping Up with the Joneses syndrome.

I encourage all to get it, and any other MS products. They pay my daughter's salary!

She actually works on Office, but what the heck!

From what I hear about it ,though, is that it is moving windows a lot closer to the mac systems, yet again
