Hey guys, you might have seen my other thread about my 15hp yamaha outboard... anyway it is running fine now (just a little smoke with the new plugs, im sure it will be fine once the plugs are used a little)

Anyway, my engine says to run 100:1 ful mixture but my mechanic said run 50:1. He is a very experienced mechanic so i always followed his directions. But ive been thinking about it...would 100:1 be better for the engine?

Thanks

I'm with your wrench, Cyclone. Use 50:1.

Have you removed the guage mechanism to see how the float is rigged?

I have 3 of those after market tanks and none of the gauges work anymore.I haven't attempted to fix because you can see the gas to determine the level. They act like the floats are saturated.
In my mind putting remote on a little boat and motor is a waste of space, weight and adds uneccessary expense and complication. If you need to get weight forward get or make a tiller extension.

Re: Fuel/Oil mix??

My dealer, instruction manual and Yamaha website says to run my 15hp at 100:1. So far, so good.

I will also vote with the mechanic at 50/1. Yews it can be converted to contols. The kit can be rather expensive.
