Well, it's certainly a typical conservative trait to believe to be true what you wish to be true, regardless of the evidence.

That has been historically a liberal trait. Your statement proves it. 8)

Actually, though I hate to burst bubbles, but it is a Human trait. Party line is irrelevant, we believe what we believe based on our experience and education, as well as upbringing. Nothing uniquely dem or rep about it...

Sorry to take that away from anyone. Personal Bias clouds everything, no one is above it, even when we try to be objective and look at both sides, the bias can sneak in...

“Most of the climate changes we have seen up until now have been a result of natural variations,” Taylor asserts.

Duh, could that be because mankind wasn't burning fossil fuels earlier than about a hundred years ago? What a stupid comment! This guy calls himself a scientist? Make the University (NOT the state) Climatologist the Court Jester. Then he can keep a title of recognition.

Thanks guys,
and after re-reading, this is a typical liberal response,
although I am neither I certainly know the difference

Anybody from the Oswego, NY area? I don't think they are experiencing global warming.

If everybody on the planet lit a bonfire in their backyard at the same time, how much do you think we could warm the Earth's atmosphere?

I heard that the guy isn't even the state's climatologist. In fact, the way I heard it, the state hasn't had anyone employed in that title for some time.

Can anyone confirm this?

In the first link....

Although Taylor is often referred to as the state climatologist for Oregon, that job was dissolved by the 1989 Legislature.

Taylor runs the Oregon State-based Oregon Climate Service, which performs many of the same duties that the state climatologist once did.

PW you again respond to a scientific question with a politician.

The vikings FARMED greenland. How exactly did they do that? Solar activity increases track directly with our current ever so slight trends. Our average temperature has gone up .07% of 1 degree C in the past 100 years. And you sit there and attribute this to SUV's specifically? Satellites taking temps for the past 20 years show ZERO change in atmospheric temps. You can point to CO2 levels but can't get them to track mathmatically with the temperature trends. Why have the past two years been cooler than 2004? How can this be under your "political science".

Avoid the superficial political science and dig deep. Blame is a wonderful tool for liberals, unfortunately not all of us are going let this junk science float unchallenged.

Again where is your science?

You ever feel lonely out there, Pointer? The vast majority of real science being done supports what I am saying. A very small fragment of scientists, mostly funded by big oil interests, don't necessarily question the data but only conclusions drawn from that data, and then mostly suggesting those conclusions are not completely proven, as opposed to being inaccurate.

Do you really believe there is some sort of vast diabolical global scientific conspiracy out there trying to make your life miserable?

And where did I attribute it all to SUV's?

There are lots of causes to global increased CO2 levels. Burning fossil fuels generally, as well as widespread deforestation are a couple of big ones, though by no means the only ones.

You ever feel lonely out there, Pointer? Who said Pointer was alone? The vast majority of real science being done supports what I am saying. That is absolute BS PW2! A very small fragment of scientists, mostly funded by big oil interests, don't necessarily question the data but only conclusions drawn from that data, and then mostly suggesting those conclusions are not completely proven, as opposed to being inaccurate. That's a fuzzy way of saying that the science is inconclusive.

Do you really believe there is some sort of vast diabolical global scientific conspiracy out there trying to make your life miserable? Would not phrase it that way, as it is POLITICAL NOT SCIENTIFIC. That said: there is a movement to raise taxes, (Democrats), increase Government's power to interfer in all of our lives, (same as raising taxes, and yes: Democrats). Increase the relative power of China and India and the UN, (just look at the terms of Algore's Kyoto accords, yes: Democrats).

And where did I attribute it all to SUV's?

There are lots of causes to global increased CO2 levels. Burning fossil fuels generally, as well as widespread deforestation are a couple of big ones, though by no means the only ones. But is that the biggest variable PW2? How 'bout ol' Sol PW2?

Sorry Pointer couldn't resist. JR

Re: Typical Liberal Response

Well not an unexpected answer. Same as all the other answers, just short one politician. Facts, naw. Sweeping statements using abiguious terms like most or tiny fraction. We have posted sites with "THOUSANDS" of scientists, real ones involved in the field, not the AlGores of the world. They are ignored or dismissed out of hand, then followed by some manufactured minimizing statement. If you wanted funding going forward would you look to Exxon or the Government. Who would pony up money longer in larger amounts for results that are pre-ordained? Think Welfare.

Here is a guy, who might have got some funding for his studies, but GETS HIS WAGE FROM THE STATE, thrown on the heap of legitimate scientists dismissed due to the fact that it is inconvenient for the one world order types. Typical Liberal Response. Not one post actually taking issue with his scientific studies.

Current temp. 5 degrees F.

If you don't drink the Kool-Aid you can't be part of the party.

Governor Ted Kulongoski obviously took a page from baby bush's playbook. The very action and phylosophy you are complaining about has been done by the current adminstration ever since baby bush started having any resistance to getting his own way.

Double standards fail. Or do you really believe that your radical right camp can get away with anything you want but can then complain when your opponents start using the same tactics?

It is wrong to take political retribution, but isn't worse to ignore facts and allow a tragedy to occur because it doesn't agree with your opinion. Oh, wait that's right, that's why we still have the idiot-in-chief, king george.
