It would at least seem so. The 1977 part number was 387872, while the 1979 number was 389764. However both of those numbers have been superseded by new number 389269.
Regarding my previous reply, notice I said seem so. But there still could be a difference in the originals that could be combined in the replacement. I don't know the final answer.
