just looking at my engine today and it is shot...I need a 460 d1ve with a 2y crank that I can slap my heads on and go. Anybody have one for sale? Thanks
I have one. It needs a camshaft & lifters... It had 150-165 PSI compression at last check. When I pulled the intake manifold I noticed that it had some flat cam lobes. It ran 4200 at WOT and I thought it was a vacuum leak ot timing....as it turned out it was timing! Valve timing.
u guys probably wont belive me but I just bought a running 429 cj eninge at a wrecking yard here in nv for $150.00 I have already ordered a rebuild kit for the engine and a nasty cam...OH ya the blower that snaped the crank in my 460 will sit nicely on it as it makes my boat go zoom zoom!!!! I can't wait...The guy at the wrecking yard had no clue to what he had...What a steal huh...So I gues I don't need that 460 anymore!! Thanks guys I will post more as I need info like what the torque order for the head bolts and intake bolts are..Thanks again!
Just make sure you have the right cam for it. Any blown engine for jet pump service requires something other than a automotive cam to run right.
You also may snap the crank on that one too.......the good thing is that there's always a lot of 429/460s sitting around in peoples backyards and wrecking yards!
