Hey guys how is everyone. I just bought a new boat new boat. Targa 17 w/90 Merc. I want to use a 15 Suzuki to use as a kicker. (a) is this too big? (b) would you recomend a smaaler pitch prop to keep RPM's up to prevent plug fouling? Thanks again guys.

A 9.9 would be fine but a 15 will work as well. Plug fouling should not be a problem if the engine is tuned and running properly. I assume the 15 is a two-stroke.

the 15 should be fine, and enough hp to get you home in an emergency.

Worried about fouling, then use synthetic tc-w3 in the gas.

Re: Trolling Questions

I run a 9.5 hp on my 17 footer and it works fine even in wind and rough water. I ran a 5 horse before that and it worked okay as well. SInce a lot of 9.9 weigh about the same as a 15 horse, then you may as well put the 15 on, then you'll really make headway in an emergency. Good luck...
