Setting up the new boat for taclkle storage and am using a new system from Prime Tackle distributed by Ole Pete's.Ironically I have been using these Plano boxes for the last five seasons storing Dipsys and Jets and MaxxedOut's spoon caddys came along in the same box,now there are three different tube sizes available in the same box from Prime.I am trying to set up each box for a season, function or lure type. Our transom stowage area will hold 15 of these so we can be pretty diverse. The Mega Caddys will have to go up front and so far the large spoons are my weakest area but that will change after we are done putting all our money and effort into the new boat.

Reef Bite Box in small tubes.

Bouncers in long tubes.

Hooking the bouncer eye keeps it tight enoug to not stress the tube. Many 1 ouncers will fit in a tube as well as four per tube up to 3 ounce and two each above that.

How about 72 harnesses and 36 weldons in a box untangled???The ladder style holders are available from Ole' Petes and Maxxed Out provides the T2 Weldon style holder.

Load and go?Jets and Dipsys with harnesses attached to a Maxxed Out Origional holder.

Deep Reef Runners fit two to a tube once you get the hook positions down.

In the long tubes You can go up to 6 minnow baits up to the size of a HJ12 or Bomber Long A.

Rip Shads,Rattle Traps,Hot'n'Tots and other small cranks fit well in the small tubes many you can double.

Terminal tackle works well also, ran out of boxes but will be setting up four more to cover snap weight system, weight fowards(for the good old days...lol...),weights and the like.

Dipsys and Jets. There has been some chatter about painting thgem lately and we ran some last season that I finished with Dupont self etching primer. The topsides are an olive color and we went to a grey for the bottoms, for the drunken upward looking eye.Have to finish the balance that are still factory finished but the two stand alone photos are units that have been run, looks like adhesion is good.

Spoon Caddys???Where would we be without Max???Still shaking piles to use the first one that drops out???

Like I said the big spoons are where I am weak and need to expand but the Mega Caddy is a great thing as well, will give me something else to fill and more to buy as time goes on.

:^ Dang thats is a lot of lures hope you get a big boat really nice set up you got going there. I did notice the jets not many use them here but I want to try how do you fish them there what speed you troll with them. I would like to run bait on one and maybe a bucktail on a second one (stripers).

Old Carver, I'm curious about the "story" behind the gray spray painted divers?

I'm quessing that you have had better luck with those than the factory colors?

Re: NEW TACKLE STORAGE

The jets come in 10,20,30,40 and 50's and the design intention was that with 100 feet out they would dive to the indicated depth but Precision Trolling proved those numbers to be inaccurate in their studies. The 30's are the best to run as the have rattles where the 10's and 20's don't and the roll over for the retrieve better than the others.Speed can vary,we are smokin at 2.5 chasing Eyes on Erie and chug away at less than 1 cold weather. The speed, line type and diameter, bait type and currents all play with actual dive depths.Once again that is where the Precision Trolling comes to play, one covers lures primarily and the other covers diving devices, snap weights and the like.

The Erie eyes seem to be spooked by flashy stuff and Kelley green and black have become popular to the crowd concearned with this issue.I had a numer of units already and can usually find them clearanced in the flashy patterns. So I went with the self etching primer as a alternative to get stealthy.

We created this gunnel to gunnel tackle stowage by relocating outdrive and trim tab hydraulic pumps. It will have a snap in Pfiffertex bag that will accept 15 of these boxes.

Nice organization for now until you're in 6-10' rollers and you need to get one of those little tubes open.. i couldn't do it..

not to sure I'm sold on the sealed system though.. water and humidity coupled withheat are going to cause you some problems, I think.

You guys aren't using Slide Divers out there on Erie yet?

thats a shame!

Re: NEW TACKLE STORAGE

OK, so what do you plan to do next winter when you won't have piles of lures to untangle? d:)

While not as specialized as your boxes, have been using the standard plano 3600, for many years. Every year seems to spawn more catagories! Enough such that I have to make one or two mixture boxes for wading and kayak fishing. :$

I've used small tubes (Fuji 35mm containers) for small stuff like terminal tackle. Of course, digital cameras have basicly cut-off my "free" supply.
