What is the best way to fill in small holes in a boat.
They have been made through the gelcoat and into the fibreglass at around 5mm diameter, I think to hold some rod rests.

Re: Filling holes

The holes that needed filled was on the back of my boat witch needed to be gelcoated anyways. So yes I also gelcoated after I was done filling the holes. Or you can paint it.

Re: Filling holes

I fill mine with resin and fine chopped glass (kitty hair etc.) to slightly below the gelcoat. then I mix up a little gelcoat, fill to overflowing, and cover with Saran plastic wrap to exclude air. Gelcoat will stay tacky in the presence of air, you must have a barrier. When hardened I carefully sand. All marine suppliers sell colorants for gelcoat so you can match color

Re: Filling holes

Fill with epoxy/carbosil mix (peanut butter consistency). After curing then top off with epoxy/microballoons (you can color tint this layer). Sand and voila.
