Tree, check history. When was the last time a democratic frontrunning in the early primary's actually recieved the nomination?

The only thing that can be accomplished by entering the race this early is that those people will be more prone to mistakes that will cost them the nomination, election or both.

When was the last time "the race" started over a year before the first primaries?

I'd wager that it will look a lot different before any votes are cast.
