I love 12 footers link. They're angry with Bush because he has an environmentally "responsible" and efficient home . . .

I believe he does walk the walk, and my hat is off to him for it.

WHAT???? If we all had the same attitude that Algore has, we'd be up to our azzes in trees and still have the increase in CO2 emissions. Bottom line is, if you are going to call for everyone else to lower emissions, you best be low yourself... just doing a payoff for your offence is like buying your way out of jail... OK for the rich?

Yup Capt'n! Me thinks JB is bein' a li'l PC for some reason. If he had a house like ol' GW Bush, (instead of three bigger ones), n drove a Yugo n' rode his bike, n' did video conferences instead of flyin' the private jet n' what not it wouldn't be so: NUTS! Hard to 'splain it any other way. JR

I think I'll sit on my backside for a few months, then sell my "carbon credits", then retire.
Too bad it's all hot air to start with.

Re: Poor Al Gore, the hypocrite......

Not my point.... and what is carbon neutral? Something the rich cooked up so they could offend and feel good about themselves, while they tell us to conserve? I don't buy it, sorry.

The intended goal of carbon offsets is to combat global warming.[2] The appeal of becoming "carbon neutral" has contributed to the growth of voluntary offsets, which often are a more cost-effective alternative to reducing one's own fossil-fuel consumption. However, the actual amount of carbon reduction (if any) from an offset project is difficult to measure, largely unregulated, and vulnerable to misrepresentation.

I agree 100%. I am not sure why buying your way to neutrality is not OK. Let's assume for a nano-second that I believed in this carp. Wouldn't the poor get the benefits of the lower temps that Al the Crusader was buying?

With that said, I want to make sure nobody thinks I give a rat's arse about being carbon neutral. Just need to throw in a little reality check every once in a while. Man, that nano-second made me feel kinda . . . dirty . . .

Hey !386, Don't know about your own personal habits, but ya probably like to use your boat, n' if it has more then oars n' a sail then you're likely jus' like the rest of us regular "Joes". Why does doin' something silly for the sake appearance let ol' Al off the hook with you? This guy has a lot of money n' lots of OXY stock, (thanks to his dad hangin' out with ol' A. Hamer when he was helpin' the USSR). He lives large, (which I don't mind at all), but I'm not tellin' ya to stop what you are doin' n' let the Chinise or India have there way while I hold you back: which ol' Algore is doin'. Sorry for the rant. Respectfully, JR

Well, first of all I don't think I elevated myself above anyone.

Even if all the stuff he's doing is a load of crap he's still walking the walk which I think is what this thread is about.

What I'M doing? China? India? Huh? What was that about changing the subject again? I think this thread's done. Go start another one about his suburban, his jet, or how silly you think his lightbulbs, solar panel and carbon credits are. He may or may not be an idiot, I just don't think his electric bill is enough evidence to make him a hypocrite (though the other things I mentioned may). I'd be interested to hear his response on those as well.

It's just what you'd expect from the uber Left, including our dear Haut. Stalin used to tell the proletariate what they had to do and then he would retire to priviledge that they would not allow the common man.

That is exactly what is happening with Global Warming. The left will use it to ruin the middle class. Exactly what the Communists had to do to gain control.

I agree about you, but I aparently did not communicate this very well. Al IS ELEVATING HIMSELF ABOVE EVERYONE.

Participating is some goody two shoes BS 'carbon neutral' sceme does nothing for me, but it is a free country.

What I'M doing? China? India? Huh? What was that about changing the subject again?

Guess I thought those things showed hypocricy on the part of Algore, sorry if I offended you.

We don't need to parse Al's hypocricy, one thread is enough for me. Agree with the rest of your statement. Sorry if I offended you. I debated posting a reply as you got testy the last time we exchanged ideas. JR

Re: Poor Al Gore, the hypocrite......

I think I need to look into this carbon credits stuff some more for myself. I can easily give you a conservative spin if you want.

Liberals feel guilty. This is how they atone.

Me, I don't know yet. I need to look at these companies more closely. On the surface it seems investing money into American businesses who want to help the environment (you know, where us humans live) and reduce our dependency on foreign (you know middle eastern) oil would be a good thing. I don't buy the whole global warming doomsday thing, but I also don't think GWB himself is going to fly down to GA to give me some conservative patriot award for throwing 6 quarts of burnt motor oil into the lake just because it would drive the liberals crazy. There has to be a balance somewhere.

Good point. I'm not sure if I agree or disagree but I gotta give you credit for an honest effort at debate on that one.

Only when you bring me into something that has nothing to do with me. I still haven't found the correlation between me trying to get the facts about the topic and China and India having their way. I'm not sure what you need to hold me back from either. Neither is really relevant or on topic as far as I'm concerned. If I've missed something, feel free to enlighten me otherwise I'll catch you next time.

By using the carbon offset theory, you could just send some money for that and things would be okie dokie. :p

Let us know what you find out about those companies.... I still think it's wrong, but it would be nice to know if they are legit or just a scam.

!386, I was referring to ALGORE not you. I tried (very poorly) to isolate you from Algore at the onset with the initial statement the rest of the rant was all about ol' AL NOT YOU. I'm sorry I was not clear. JR

When I saw you'd posted I put on my flame retardant gear before I clicked the link expecting the worst. That's actually pretty damn funny.

I'll read up on some of those companies and post what I find. You may need to prod me from time to time if I forget or procrastinate.

There you go again Haut, spinning off in your own direction. I did a word search on this page and only found "Aristocracy" once.

Stalin did destroy the middle class and created a "classless society"... with a lower class and the Upper class to rule them. :p

Hmmmm..... where were the Romanov's mentioned? I mean before you did?

I've read Boomer's post a couple of times, and I'd swear he was talking about current, or at least in the last 50 or 60 years, history... nothing was said about The Bolshevik rebellion. :p
